Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, protect, and respect your personal information.
Blade Boss LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Blade Boss platform at https://bladebosshq.com ("the Platform"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, share, and protect your personal information when you use the Platform, create an account, subscribe to a membership, use our lawn care tools, or otherwise interact with our services. By using the Platform, you consent to the practices described in this policy.
01 Information We Collect
We collect information in three ways: information you provide directly, information collected automatically, and information from third-party sources.
Information You Provide:
- Account Registration: Name, email address, password, city, and state.
- Profile Data: Lawn size, grass type, soil type, experience level, and lawn care preferences.
- Property Data: Physical property addresses, GPS coordinates, USDA hardiness zone, and property metadata including soil composition data.
- Zone Mapping Data: Custom lawn zone boundaries (GPS polygon coordinates), zone names, area measurements, zone groupings, and associated soil test results.
- Calculator & Tool Data: Inputs and outputs from lawn care calculators, saved calculation history, and tool preferences.
- Payment Information: Billing details provided during subscription checkout. Full credit card data is processed and stored exclusively by our payment processor, Square, Inc. We retain only the last four digits and card brand for your reference.
- Communications: Information provided when you contact our support team, submit feedback, or participate in consultations.
Information Collected Automatically:
- Usage Data: Pages visited, tools used, features accessed, login timestamps, session duration, and interaction patterns.
- Device & Browser Data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, screen resolution, and referring URL.
- Cookies & Local Storage: Session cookies, authentication tokens, user preferences, and cached data stored via browser localStorage and IndexedDB for performance optimization.
- Activity Logs: Login events, property additions, zone creation, tool calculations, and calendar task completions are logged for analytics and platform improvement.
Information From Third Parties:
- Mapbox: Satellite imagery, geocoding data, and map tile rendering for property visualization.
- Square: Payment confirmation, subscription status, and transaction records.
02 How We Use Your Information
We use your personal information for the following purposes:
- Platform Operation: To create and manage your account, process subscriptions, deliver membership features, and provide access to tools and content based on your tier.
- Lawn Care Services: To generate personalized lawn care recommendations, calculate fertilizer and product application rates, display weather and growing degree day data, and provide zone-specific guidance.
- Property Mapping: To render your property on satellite imagery, store zone boundaries, calculate area measurements, and display soil data.
- Payment Processing: To process subscription payments, manage billing cycles, handle cancellations and refunds, and maintain payment history records.
- Communications: To send transactional emails (account confirmations, password resets, billing receipts), membership updates, and — with your consent — marketing communications about platform features and lawn care content.
- Analytics & Improvement: To understand usage patterns, identify popular tools and features, diagnose technical issues, and improve the Platform experience.
- Security: To detect and prevent fraud, unauthorized access, and other malicious activity.
- Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, or enforceable governmental requests.
03 Payment Processing & Security
All payment processing is handled by Square, Inc., a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. When you enter your credit or debit card information during checkout, that data is transmitted directly to Square's secure servers using industry-standard TLS encryption.
- We do not store your full credit card number, CVV, or expiration date on our servers at any time.
- We do store a Square customer ID, subscription ID, the last four digits of your card, and the card brand (e.g., Visa, Mastercard) for your account management convenience.
- Payment transaction history (amount, date, status, payment type) is stored in our database for your billing records and our accounting purposes.
For more information about how Square handles your payment data, please refer to Square's Privacy Policy at squareup.com/legal/privacy.
04 Cookies & Local Storage
We use cookies and browser storage technologies to operate the Platform effectively. Here is what we use and why:
Essential Cookies (Required):
- WordPress Session Cookies: Maintain your login session and authenticate your identity. Login cookies expire after 2 days (or 2 weeks if "Remember Me" is selected).
- Security Cookies: Temporary cookies to verify browser capability and prevent cross-site request forgery (CSRF).
- Nonce Tokens: Short-lived security tokens that validate form submissions and API requests.
Functional Storage (Performance):
- localStorage: Stores user preferences, map settings, and cached data (BladeData) for faster page loads and cross-tab synchronization. This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly save changes.
- IndexedDB: Stores larger datasets locally including zone data, soil tests, calculation history, and an offline sync queue. This enables the Platform to function during temporary network interruptions.
Analytics & Advertising Cookies:
- Meta (Facebook) Pixel: We use the Meta Pixel to measure advertising effectiveness, build custom audiences, and deliver relevant ads on Facebook and Instagram. This pixel may collect your IP address, browser information, and pages visited. You can opt out of Meta's tracking via your Facebook Ad Settings or the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page.
Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent the Platform from functioning properly. Disabling localStorage or IndexedDB will significantly degrade performance.
05 Third-Party Services
We integrate with the following third-party services to operate the Platform. Each service has its own privacy policy governing how it handles your data:
- Square, Inc. — Payment processing, subscription management, and billing. Square Privacy Policy
- Mapbox, Inc. — Satellite imagery, map rendering, geocoding, and property visualization. When you use Lawn Map Pro, your property coordinates are sent to Mapbox to render map tiles. Mapbox Privacy Policy
- FluentCRM — Email marketing automation. We use FluentCRM to send newsletters, product updates, and marketing communications. Your name and email address are shared with this service. FluentCRM Privacy Policy
- Zoho Bigin — Customer relationship management (CRM). Contact information may be stored in our CRM for member support and communication purposes. Zoho Privacy Policy
- Meta Platforms (Facebook) — Advertising and analytics via the Meta Pixel. Meta Privacy Policy
- WordPress / Automattic — Core platform infrastructure. Standard WordPress cookies and functionality. Automattic Privacy Policy
We carefully select third-party partners that maintain strong data protection practices. However, we are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services. We encourage you to review their respective policies.
06 Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

- Safety & Protection: When we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Blade Boss LLC, our members, or the public.

- With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize us to share information for a specific purpose.
We will never share your property address, GPS coordinates, or lawn zone data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for marketing purposes.

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. Specific retention periods include:

- Client-Side Data: Data stored in your browser (localStorage, IndexedDB) can be cleared at any time through your browser settings. We do not control the retention of data stored locally on your device.
08 Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, including:
- Encryption: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using TLS/SSL (HTTPS). Passwords are stored using one-way cryptographic hashing and are never stored in plain text.
- Access Controls: Administrative access to user data is restricted to authorized personnel only and protected by multi-factor authentication.
- Payment Isolation: Credit card data is processed exclusively by Square's PCI DSS Level 1 compliant infrastructure and never touches our servers.
- Monitoring: We monitor our systems for unauthorized access attempts and suspicious activity.
- Nonce Verification: All API requests and form submissions are validated with security tokens to prevent cross-site request forgery.
While we take reasonable precautions to protect your data, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. If you become aware of any unauthorized access to your account, please contact us immediately at support@bladebosshq.com.
